Lehr Family Portraits At Home & Lanikai Beach

 

A tropical setting, sunny beaches, and natural beauty galore – that pretty much sums up what Hawaii is all about. And, when you pick one of the most gorgeous beaches for your family photo session, stellar images are, of course, guaranteed! Now, what if you complement your beach photos with a few taken in your backyard and add a personal touch to your session? That sounds like an excellent idea to me! So, when I got the opportunity to take photos of the Lehr family at their home and then at the pristine Lanikai Beach on the island of Oahu, I just knew it was going to be a fun-filled day with tons of stunning family portraits thrown in. And, that’s exactly what we got. The images turned out exactly how I had envisioned them! From the lush green backyard photos to the ones shot at the beach, all the pictures of my clients Cara and Ryan Lehr and their little munchkins had such a relaxing and easy vibe.

It was a beautiful day, and the natural light we got during the family portrait session was lovely! The sky seemed to be on our side too. It was clear and blue throughout, making for a perfect backdrop for the images. I loved how Cara and Ryan, along with their little ones, were dressed in casual beachwear. Cara’s bright yellow dress in tropical prints blended beautifully with the scenery around and added a pop of color to the photos. 

My models were chilled out and relaxed, which made photographing the session a breeze for me and so much fun. The Lehrs just sat on the grass in their backyard and had a good time with a glass of wine in their hands. At that point, if someone told me, “Nothing’s better than the comfort of your home,” I would have totally agreed! Not just Cara and Ryan, but the kids also enjoyed their photo session at home. I loved the climbing and adventuring of the little boys! The kids treated this session as their playtime, and I’m so happy about that. This helped me get some great candid pictures of the two brothers. Since the family was at home for the first part of the session, Cara and Ryan gave the boys ice cream bars and the result was – happy kids jumping around with joy!

When we moved to the beach for more pictures, the excitement level of this beautiful family touched new heights. They really made this session about what they love to do as a family. For me, as their photographer, the focus of the session was on authentic candids mixed with a few posed shots. And at the end of the session, they all jumped into the water together and called it a day with quite a splash! I loved how this family celebrated their time together, making every moment count and creating beautiful memories along the way.

The Lehr family, you all are such sweethearts. I loved being in your company, and photographing you all was such a pleasure. Cara and Ryan, thank you for choosing me to be your family photographer and giving me a chance to spend some quality time with you guys. Your two little boys were just packed with so much energy and absolute fun to be around, and I am so glad I could meet and photograph them. I wish you all loads of fun, adventures, and happiness together!
