Waikoloa Beach Elopement

Waikoloa Beach Elopement

bride and groom kiss on the beach after their elopement

As the sun set in Kona, the easy-breezy couple that was Sean and Lei prepared for their beachfront elopement with their toes in the sand. What better way for this madly smitten couple to start their new life together than with a quiet, private ceremony on the Big Island? I can’t think of another destination in which they would be able to dance across the dark lava rocks and play around in the sand together as they did on this evening.

They were naturals in front of the camera and were having so much fun together. It’s weddings like this and couples like Sean and Lei that make my job so rewarding.

As the evening came to a close, I took the opportunity to ask them a few questions about their big day.

Me: Why Choose the big Island to get married?

Lei: We choose Kona side of the Big Island for our destination wedding because we wanted to explore and drive around this beautiful island and get off the beaten path a bit. Sean and I were really focusing on making this all about us and our love. We are staying in Waikoloa for a few days and then we are hopping around and staying on the Hilo side and then in Waimea.

Me: Omg, I love your dress, where did you get it?

Lei: Thank you so much I got it at Lezu Bridal

Me: What do you love most about each other?

Sean: Her Smile

Lei: His hugs

Why Elope in Hawaii?

Elopement isn’t just for daring couples anymore. Believe it or not, many couples still choose elopement over having a traditional wedding. Whether it’s to save money, avoid uncomfortable family situations, or to simply be able to focus on only each other on the big day, more and more couples are turning to elopements on the Big Island or other venues for destination wedding elopements.

Hawaii is always a top choice because it’s romantic, it’s beautiful, you can have the wedding and honeymoon in the same spot, and it’s not that easy to get to, thus making the “running off and getting married in private” aspect of elopement all the more easy to pull off.

Why Hire a Professional Photographer for an Elopement?

While it’s true that elopements are generally more spontaneous than your typical, planned wedding, there are definitely some things you should think about ahead of time. You and your partner must have a very special reason for choosing this tropical location. Whether you choose Hawaii, Kauai, Oahu, or another of the beautiful islands for its scenery, beaches, weather, or local traditions, it’s surely a day you want to remember for the rest of your lives. That’s where a professional photographer comes in — particularly one with specific experience.

If you’ve never been to Hawaii before, you’ll want a professional to guide you through the process. It takes some trial and error to learn the best times of day for photos, the best locations, the timing of the tides, and a lot of other nuances you may not have considered. For instance, do you: Want to catch a pod of dolphins off the coast? Want to walk barefoot on the beach without cutting up your feet? Want to take pictures close to the shore without getting soaked? Then let your photographer lead you to the perfect location and deliver timeless memories you will cherish forever and be able to share with the rest of the world when you’re ready to announce your marriage.
